I was the youngest Federal employee ever hired by Urban Renewal. I had a Real Estate License and was a Housing and Urban Renewal General Contractor. Louisville had one of the largest urban renewal programs in the country renovating seven entire neighborhoods.

Duties: Reporting on a work write-up form each element in the house and premises to meet property Rehab standards, housing codes, FHA requirements, technical specifications & standards to correct all violations. As a Rehab Advisor, I write a complete set of specifications for all work proposed. I was responsible for inspecting buildings and assisting property owners and loan counselors in developing the most economical, functional and aesthetically attractive way of correcting building deficiencies. Responsible for conduction in the field inspections of jobs under construction and writing change orders and draw process. Advisors meet FHA, property owners, and contractors at the job to assure all aspects are complete. Advisors at initial interviews determine structural and financial feasibility. Doing all phases of construction, I also attend neighborhood meetings, projects, and keep a close relationship with the community in conjunction with planning activities.
